Humanym — Account & Data Deletion
Last updated: June 12, 2026
This page explains how to delete your Humanym account and the data associated with it, what we erase, what we keep, and how long the process takes. It applies to the Humanym website (humanym.com) and our iOS and Android apps (together, "the Platform"), and is operated by Humanym LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("Humanym," "we," "us," "our").
1. How to Request Deletion
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from inside the app:
- Open Humanym and go to Settings (the cog icon).
- Under Account, choose Delete all my data.
- Type the confirmation phrase to confirm, and submit.
That single step starts the deletion process described below — there is nothing else you need to do.
No longer have the app installed? You can also request deletion by emailing support@humanym.com from the email address on your account. We will verify the request and start the same process on your behalf.
2. What Happens First: a 30-Day Grace Period
Account deletion is recoverable for 30 days by design, so an accidental or impulsive tap never costs you your correspondence.
When you request deletion:
- Your account is deactivated immediately. You are signed out everywhere, and you stop receiving new matches, offers, and replies. You can no longer send.
- Your account is scheduled for permanent erasure 30 days later.
Changing your mind (reactivation). If you sign back in during the 30-day window, Humanym shows you the scheduled erasure date and a Reactivate option. Reactivating restores your account fully — nothing has been destroyed yet, so the recovery is lossless.
If you do nothing, the permanent erasure runs automatically once the 30 days have passed.
3. What We Erase
After the grace period ends, we permanently and irreversibly delete the data that belongs to you alone, including:
- Your account record and the email marker used to sign you in
- Your authentication sessions and tokens
- Your subscription and entitlement records on our side
- Your writing-style analysis and matching data (embeddings and match history)
- Your opening correspondence and the record of what you have already seen
This data is removed from our primary database (DynamoDB) and our supporting stores (Redis). It is not recoverable after this point.
4. What We Keep, and Why
Some information is shared with another person or is legally required, so it cannot simply be erased:
- Conversations you had with another person. A correspondence belongs to both participants. When you delete your account, your identity is removed and anonymized from those conversations, but the messages themselves remain readable to the person you wrote with — we cannot delete the other party's copy of their own correspondence. Your name, profile, and account are no longer connected to it.
- Transaction and tax records. Payments are processed by Stripe, Apple, or Google — we never store your card number. Records of purchases (amounts, dates) may be retained by those processors and by us as required for accounting, tax, and legal-compliance purposes. These are not used to identify or contact you after deletion.
- Records we must keep by law, such as information needed to comply with a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, or enforce our agreements. These are kept only as long as required and then deleted.
We do not sell your data, show ads, or use your writing to train AI models — before, during, or after deletion. For the full picture, see our Privacy Policy.
